THE TROUBLE WITH LOVE AND SEX and THE CRISIS OF CIVILISATION both use animation, and our event explores different ways to present documentary evidence visually. Is animation just a stylistic device allowing comedy to infiltrate some of the darker corners of factual film-making? Can animation secure access to situations where the camera cannot get in? Does animation make the storytelling more compelling? What are the ethical implications of having an animated character speak someone else’s words or espouse an untested theory?
